About Us

Tuggerah Lakes Mingara Little Athletics Centre inc.

Established 1982

Welcome to the Tuggerah Lakes Mingara Little Athletics Centre information site.

Our Centre organises Athletic Competition, Coaching and Social activities, for children at the Central Coast Regional Athletic Centre Tumbi Umbi, on Friday evenings from October to March.

Our emblem is the Running Pelican and we are the 165th centre to register with the Little Athletics Association of New South Wales.

Our Colours are, Jade, Yellow and Black bands on the top part of the uniform, and we match this with Black running shorts.

We cater for all age groups that qualify to be registered with Little Athletics New South Wales.

We usually have 500 or more athletes regularly compete on each evening of the competition, and encourage all athletes to take part in all events that are scheduled for their age group.

Our Centre is run totally by volunteers, and for every athlete registered, there will need to be a parent of that athlete actively taking part in the running of the centre. This ensures smooth running of the competition season.

Each athlete should have one parent assisting at least once in every three weeks.

Our Executive Committee meet on the Third Monday evening in each month, and sub-committees meet more regularly for the day to day running of the centre.

We offer training ( usually free of Charge ), to all parents, to assist them to learn to be proficient in any of the centre operations that they wish to learn.

Gaining of officially recognised qualifications is encouraged.
Coaching courses  run by the Australian Track and Field Coaches Association are run all year round.
Officials courses run by the Little Athletics Association of N.S.W are run on demand. Minimum numbers apply for courses to be run.

Athletes are encouraged to improve their skills by attending any of the training sessions that are provided by qualified coaches.

All coaches we recommend are Australian Track and Field Qualified, and those coaches welcome any of our athletes to attend training sessions provided by them. Training fees for centre coaches are covered in registration costs.

A small fee may be charged by other coaches that may be recommended to our athletes.

With the assistance from Little Athletics New South Wales, N.S.W Sport and Recreation and The Australian Sports Commission ( club development network, we have continually improving guidelines, policies and codes, to ensure that our centre always runs using the best possible and most up to date information available.

All parents are encouraged to take an active part in their childs' athletic sporting achievements by taking up an official role within our centre.

We embrace the motto " Be Your Best ", and have structured our championships to ensure every athlete is given the opportunity to improve themselves, Physically, Emotionally and Socially.

We attempt to make our centre competitions as socially enjoyable as possible while still having them structured to test the skills and abilities between athletes within age groups.

While we are one of the largest centres on the Central Coast, we still consider ourselves " one big family " in terms of friendship and respect for one another.

We attempt to provide the best opportunities for centre members, both Athletes and Non-Athletes to experience the excitement of Athletic Competition.

We do this by promoting attendance to all championships and social evenings.

We encourage parents to attend organized courses to the benefit of themselves, their children, and the centre.
